How Certified Water Labs content gets researched, written, reviewed, and corrected.
Last updated: 2026-07-11
Buyer-first standard
Every page on Certified Water Labs exists to help a buyer complete a real task — comparing providers, understanding a process, or deciding what to verify before spending money. We do not publish pages whose only purpose is to rank in search engines. If a page does not help a buyer finish a job, it does not ship.
Who writes our content
Content is credited to the Certified Water Labs Editorial Team. We do not use fabricated author personas, invented names, or invented credentials. Where drafting is AI-assisted, that is disclosed in our AI content policy, and a human reviews every page before it is published.
Sourcing and verification
- Factual claims in guides are tied to cited public sources, and citations are checked against the source text before publication.
- Provider facts on listing pages come from public records; each listing shows whether its facts are source-backed or provider-approved.
- We do not invent Never claim the directory certifies, accredits, or approves any laboratory — certification is issued only by state programs under EPA oversight., Never state a lab's prices, turnaround times, or panel contents unless sourced from the lab or its certifying authority., Never assert a specific lab is 'approved' for a given FHA/VA/USDA loan — requirements vary by lender, program, state, and county., Never present mail-in kit results as satisfying a mortgage/closing water-test requirement., or other facts we cannot support.
What our pages are not
Certified Water Labs is an independent directory. We do not certify, accredit, endorse, or perform water testing. Laboratory certification is issued by state programs under EPA oversight; always verify a lab's current certification and your required test panel directly with the lab and your state program or lender before scheduling. Content is general information, not legal, financial, or health advice.
Advertising and editorial separation
Paid placements are always visibly labeled ("Featured placement") and never change editorial content, guide recommendations, or the facts shown on listings. Advertisers cannot buy reviews, ratings, rankings, or removals of accurate information. See how advertising works here and our affiliate disclosure.
Updates and corrections
Policy and guide pages carry visible updated dates. If you find an error — in a guide, a listing, or anywhere else — tell us through the contact form with the page URL. Corrections are prioritized, and material fixes update the page's date.
